you are so right they are not typically the same the thing, as many blacks are socially conservative as are latinos and many dont support gay marriages.

my wife and I are an interracial couple, we dont see ourselves in the same context adn dont feel we get the same sort of experiences the gays say they do from Conservatives. we are well excepted, her family are all conservative Republicans and most of mine are also.

Moving to Williamson county and invite my good Catholic friend to do the same. also think there was an LDS family looking also

Try to disregard the shriller voices....that's what the internet tends to attract.

Here's our deal. We're traditional Roman Catholics. Live within a mile of downtown. Attend St. Mary Cathedral. They are liturgically pretty traditional, and even have a Latin Mass at 3pm. There are larger, more "with it" parishes that seem to follow the Evangelical "drum kit next to the tabernacle" model. No judgment, but it's not what we prefer. As converts, we like the classics.

We relish the diversity of neighbors we have (even the intolerant ones....whether liberal or conservative....because they make for interesting dinner conversation). Neighbors include families, unmarried cohabitants (straight and otherwise), elderly and kids, owners and some renters, and a smattering of political, intellectual and ethnic diversity. That's fine by us.

If that works for you, then you can settle just about anywhere in town.

Lots of folks on this forum say things like "Move out to XXXXX, they're all homogenous and closed-minded there." I haven't lived in those places, but can't imagine that there's a ton of truth to that.

I'd agree to a point - however, most area residents avoid the central city unlike suburbanites in Austin. Yes, MLK's site is down there, but liberals are hard to find..groups are small.. sorry, it's not a liberal place.

Can I ask you what the home prices are around that area next to the Cathedral? Thank you before hand if you know. Sorry, don't mean to divert the topic but wanted to ask the question.

I don't understand the last sentence in the previous post: the cathedral is downtown and there aren't any houses or neighborhoods in immediate proximity. Closest "nice" neighborhoods would be Travis Heights, or on the other side of Lamar, the Enfield area. It's nowhere near the water, of course.

Just about any single family homes within a mile of downtown will be nearing the half a million mark or above.
