Default The Bobby Bones show

Does anyone listen to the Bobby Bones show on Kissfm in the morning? I've become a religious listener over the last couple of months. I work early in the morning so I find it helps to keep me awake. What are your favorite segments? Who is your favorite host?

For me - Favorite segments are games and my favorite host changes all the time. I even like lunchbox sometimes!

I'm almost embarrassed to admit, but I've been a pretty religious listener for YEARS. My BBS listening dates back to the Jill days. Anyone remember Jill?? I miss her. Sarah (Jill's first replacement) was HORRIBLE. Amy's OK, but her ignorance about a lot of things sometimes annoys me.

Lunchbox is my favorite. I love how unapologetic he is about being himself. I don't agree with him all the time, but at least he's not afraid to be himself.

Carlos is kinda funny sometimes. My husband (who is half-Hispanic) loves it when they play the Tejano music before and after Carlos segments.

I used to listen every morning, but I don't work anymore (by choice), and I never bother to turn it on since I'm not in the car. I was a long-time listener though, and my personal opinion is that they still haven't found a female cohost as good as Jill, so I agree with Austinitegirl.

I occasionally allow my 16 year old daughter to talk me into letting her listen on the drive to school. But only so I can use that moron Tool Box (my nickname for him) as an example of the kind of worthless loser to avoid when she starts dating. In fact, it's normally not long after he starts flappin' his lips with his misogynist drivel that I say "that's enough" and switch stations.

Bobby also serves as an example of the kind of guy I tell my daughter to avoid, but for the opposite reason. He's nice enough, but lives way too much in his head, way too much in the "Lover" archetype. Too feely, touchy, insecure, non-committal. He's basically what we used to call a "pansy" (weak, effeminate, cowardly man). Not the kind of guy that makes a strong, masculine mate for an independent, strong female, as I hope my daughters to be when they are adults. Though I do give him props for some of his moral convictions, such as the fact that he's not into "hooking up" with chicks at bars.

Amy is the only one I'd consider balanced, normal, and level headed all around. She has good manners, integrity and she's way smarter than the guys. So she serves, imho, as a positive role model for young girls.

Unfortunately, the listening public doesn't provide good ratings for what I think would be appropriate radio content for teens and young adults.

Steve

I'm a happy Sirius listener. I HATE commercials.
But I did meet Bobby Bones once, and I was impressed. He may seem flaky, but he actually is a pretty together businessman, busily marketing his 'brand'.

I listen everyday but only from 7-7:45ish on my way to work. Im a bit confused and hoping someone can clarify... Awhile back there was a big deal that amy was moving to North Carolina- however within the past few months I keep hearing references to her being in town (going to the movies with bobby, out to eat with interns, thanksgiving dinner with her family that lives here) Has she and her husband moved back permanently? Or is she just visiting?

I've never caught that show. Now I feel compelled to give it a listen just so I know what y'all are talking about. I listened to Dale Dudley on KLBJ a few times, but his constant whining about station politics drove me away rather quickly. I'm a KGSR girl all the way. Mellow morning chat and lots of great tunes. I'm heartbroken that Jody Denberg (afternoon dj) is bailing out after 18 years. His voice is like a great glass of scotch on a cold day.

Her husband was deployed for a while so she spent the last few months in town with her family instead of being by herself in NC. I assume/believe they'll be returning to NC near Christmas.

She was working from a remote studio location in Carolina, which allowed her to remain part of the crew, though that would not necessarily be apparent to a casual listener. And Robino exaplined why she's back in Austin now and then.

They are also syndicated in some other markets now I believe.

I'm forced to listen to this show when I drive my 16 year old to school. She begs, and I relent after first forcing her to listen to some real news and learn something about what's going on in the real world. And she has to be able to answer a short quiz and recap what the "boring" stuff was about. Gotta eat your Brussels Sprouts before you get dessert.

Steve

I listen to it on the way in to work every morning. Pretty good morning show in my opinion though I could see why many wouldn't like it. I don't look to the morning radio DJs as a news source and it is nice to listen to something not very serious for a bit in the morning.
