Yes, I'm thinking curbline might refer to parts of the sidewalk both with and without curbcuts.

I think the "No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle" refers to people and their vehicles and not as pedestrians.

That happens in 78704 too and it bugs the he!! out of me. During a Christmas Affair or First Tuesday (or is it Thursday? I forget). People put out cones or what have you. It's a PUBLIC STREET. Ok, done.
Why not park in front of your OWN house? It bugs the sh*t out of me when my neighbors park in front of my house unless it's when they have no room in cases such as a party.

Cars parked all up and down the street make the neighborhood look trashy, and they pose a danger as well (i.e. kids running out from behind parked cars in traffic where the drivers can't see them until it's too late).

Plus, cars outside attract thieves.

Parking across a sidewalk is, I have always been told, a parking violation under COA rules. In our case, it is also an HOA issue. In our area, I think the HOA places a (very polite) note on 'offending' car about parking across the sidewalk. I think only on a 'complaint' basis - some sidewalks just aren't used enough for most people to care. Anyway, a note from the HOA is a helluva lot better than a citation from the city.

As for outside cars attracting thieves, that is probably true, but the last spate of burglaries occurred in our area when someone was driving around looking for houses with no cars outside. Then he would park and walk up to their door and knock. If no one would answer, then he would crow-bar the door. He happened to break into a house where the lady had been napping, so she was just getting up when he broke the door open. Fortunately, he fled.

So...parking a car in your driveway COULD deter thieves .

Does it bug you because you wish to park in front of your house on the public street which belongs to all? If not, why does it bug you? Your property doesn't extend into the street, after all.

Interesting the people who think that cars parked in the parking spaces provided on a public street looks "trashy". I'm trying to remember anywhere other than neighborhoods that are HOA neighborhoods (and precious few of those) that I've seen over the years that don't have cars parked on the public streets.

This would appear to be a fairly new development in things to judge your fellow man with.

Actually, it bugs me when people park in front of my house when they have room in front of thiers. Not that I think I own the street or anything, but I sometimes do have guests coming over and that is typically where they would park. There is not a huge amount of street 'space' because we live on a corner and have a fire hydrant nearby. It also can make it very difficult to get out of our driveway because of blocked line-of-sight and limited ability to turn sharply - at a previous house, they would park with their bumper right up to the edge of my driveway.

And it is not the 'trashy' aspect that bothers me, really, when they park beside our house, it is just much nicer to have the nice view out of our dining room window looking across the yard and out across the street into the neighbors yard. They have very nice landscaping and it looks much better than the neighbors vehicle, and the longer line of sight is just more pleasant.

I am in no way a fan of 'regulating' parking on the street, but courtesy should generally apply....if you are parking in front of someone else's house so that you have a nicer view, think of the impact on someone else's view. And don't park directly across from someone's driveway so that it makes it hard for them to get out, unless you have nowhere else to park.

My parents live in a gated community where you cant park your car over nite outside without a permit. It will be a cold day in hell when i let someone tell me to park my car in my garage.

The house next door is rented to several people that have 4 cars between them and then on Friday night the guests arrive with their cars. They park in front of our house and directly across from our driveway making it more of a chore to back out. Our street is a narrow one and in spots where cars park on the street it becomes a squeeze if you meet anyone. Those that park 2 feet from the curb really need to learn to park better.

Round up all the fellas who like to tell people where to park, and invite them over to your neighbors'

Imagine a day where, rather than judging you for the type of car you drive, people will ask where you park it!

Well, I park in my garage
But it irks me to no end when I go to someone's house in central Austin (04 is the worst) and people come out of their house and tell me not to park in front of THEIR house. It's their house, but not THEIR street. I pay city taxes, and if I want to park in front of your house, and it's not zoned against it, I WILL.
