My husband says there are two varieties here, and one of them is venomous. But not more venomous than a bee sting.

How do you catch them or kill them?

I'm usually pretty tolerant of critters but damn...any of those things come near me they will be promptly introduced to the bottom of my shoe.
Most promptly.

There are things you can put on your lawn that can get rid of them. Catch them in a jar, and throw them back outside. They usually live under rocks or something.

Are any of these lawn treatments safe to use around pets? (Maybe things like diatomaceous earth?) Up North people only spray their lawns for weeds but I've heard one too many stories about Fido dropping dead from it.

There are some things that are safe, but look at some of the organic gardening centers around Austin. I'm sure they have some safe product. Austin gardens would be one. Here are some others: Natural Gardener, It's about Thyme, Barton Springs Nursery, Eco-Wise, The Great Outdoors, Shoal Creek Nursery.
