Donate them if they are heavy-duty down comforters. We have some tropical weight down comforters that we use to keep the chill of the AC off of us but anything too heavy never gets used!!

Depends on you! I use a down comforter AND an electric blanket during the winter. It DOES get cold!

Well, are you the type to buy a new one every year?? If so, donate them!

If not, pack them up.

I have one of the LL Bean down comforters and we sleep with it 8 months out of the year. It's not one of the heavy duty ones -keeps you warm in the winter and comfy in all except the hottest summer months.

We use ours about 4-5 months out of the year. Light to medium weight, not the heavy duty sort.

Thanks for your help, you're all so kind in your responses.

No, I do not buy new every year. LL bean as well, (heavy duty). I suppose we'll bring em.

There were two things on my mind about the down comforters: 1. will they be too hot, and 2. do scorpions and other critters live in them. I kept visualizing huge spiders making their way into all that soft down and finding themselves a nice comfy home. Yah, I know...I have issues.

You can also wrap yourselves in them when the tornadies hit.

I've never even thought about bugs burrowing in my down comforter. I guess I won't be sleeping tonight
Seriously though. Do pack them.
