Default Moving To Austin

I have heard alot about Austin Tx and I am strongly considering moving there from North Carolina. I am originally from NYC and NC is a little slow. I am looking at Pflugerville, however some people are saying that Dallas is better place to relocate to. I guess I am looking to see how the job market is in Austin and how well the diversity is there also. I am married with two children. This is a big step and Texas has been calling me for some time now, so I need to answer the call. I don't want to wake up and find I missed out. If anyone can just give me some additional insight into the area it would be helpful.

I don't know much about Dallas, really, but it is definitely a more diverse city if you are talking about percentage of African-American residents. On the other hand, there are a lot of ways to look at diversity (there is a good post on the boards somewhere about that...). Austin, imho, is much nicer looking than Dallas and the weather is more tolerable (not as hot and not as cold, either). Job market is really decent in both cities, so it depends on what you are looking to work in. Pflugerville itself is rather 'slow paced' (very family oriented) and Austin is in Texas (there is a thread on that, too ), and Texas is still in the south....you won't find anything like NYC, but Dallas or Houston would be closer.

Default Thanks for the insight

Thanks for the input. I know I will never find anything close to the city that never sleeps (NYC) but I want a glimpse of an urban feel. I would never relocate back to NYC. Just visit. I like to live around a mix of people. Diversity is key to help being a well rounded person. I am just looking for any input that I can get. Best shoppes, things to do, crime rate, food etc..I checked on the schools so I am good on that. Thanks again
