Religiousness in Round Rock
In my search for a home in Round Rock my realtor showed me a dozen of homes. Only one home had no crosses on its wallls. In one case I counted 29 crosses on one single wall. Holly cow, this many crooses you can't find in any church in the world. This many crosses you won't find in all households of Stockholm (where I was born) combined. Other homes had somewhat between 4 and 15 crosses each. As a European raised and educated I was estonished with the level of religiousness of people of Round Rock. I simply feel uncomfortable seeing this.

I suppose it's a good thing you don't have to live with them then eh? I'm sure they'll be taking the crosses with them. I'm not sure what it is you're looking for in a home but I would be more concerned with the structure itself, but that's just me. In my lifetime I've looked at some rat infested places that were for sale and I had to look beyond what was to what could be.
I would spend less time counting crosses and more time seeing if the air conditioner worked. And besides...just because they have crosses doesn't mean they're religious. Maybe they collect them.
I knew a gal once that had a rosary on her wall and the beads were the size of bowling balls. I kid you not.
Do they not have crosses in Stockholm?

Sweden is one of the countries with the highest # of aethiests... I think only 23% of the population believes in God. The OP probably hasn't been to Italy, though, if he/she thinks Europe is more cross-free than RR.
Although, if the OP is uncomfortable with crosses, they probably should stay away from Texas or any of the South or Midwest regions of the US.

It's a trend...
It seems to be more prevalent in Texas, but hanging crosses on your wall is a decorating trend. They are collected in different sizes and hung in a various configurations. Most of them are relatively inexpensive, hence a big impact for not a lot of money.

Now, I find that interesting, because as a real estate agent I see a lot more houses than most people, and I don't recall seeing crosses in many of the houses that I've shown, at all. Few enough that it's something to be remarked upon when I do.
Where were you looking in Round Rock?
As for atxcio, I've lived in East Texas as a preacher's kid, in North Texas, in Central Texas, etc. (I've gotten around in my life, at least in Texas.) That's a stereotype you're putting forth there. Yes, there are people in Texas who are very religious, and there are a lot of people in Texas who are very NOT, and there's a lot of people in between (meaning you wouldn't know unless you asked, you can't just assume one way or the other here, though, of course, people DO assume one way or the other, mostly incorrectly).

Vampire repellent! We thought the same thing when looking north of 360 from Jester NE. I kid you not- every single house had them. In fact, one house (that we really liked) had scripture written at the top of the walls like a stincle or wall paper border AND verses streaming across the computer screens as screen savers. We stick to the SW part of the city now.

I may be inferring something that isn't there, but I think that the OP was more worried about moving into an area with very religious neighbors rather than crosses as decorations. No one likes to feel like an outsider in their own neighborhood and that's how the OP may feel if he perceives his new neighbors to be extremely religious.

I didn't mean to imply anything other than vast swaths of the US (I said Midwest, Texas, and the South) are mostly Christian.. so you will see crosses. I don't think there is anything wrong with that, I'm completely comfortable with it (Catholic), just saying it may not be the best place if you are uncomfortable around crosses. I didn't think that implied any stereotyping of the people in the areas I mentioned, but if it did.. I am sorry.

The hispanic people are very religious. You may have seen a home owned by a hispanic person. Do not put too much into it.
Religion is not forced on people here. I don't know how to word it right..it's present but not shoved in your face if you can understand that.

So the SW part of Austin is not religious? I thought they had churches there too.
