Any recommendations for Flat Screen TV Installers
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had experienced quality service(at good price) for flat screen tv installation at homes. I was looking at having this mounted on a wall and concealed wirings etc. Any ballpark figures available?
Thanks in advance.

I did it myself with my husband, his brother, and an awesome Craftsman Impact Driver. Took about 3 hours, and there's a dozen years of college between us to do the math involved to get it just right. The Screen is straight and level, but now it just makes it more obvious that the oh-so-high-quality new construction didn't bother to get the wall/ceiling straight and true!
When I move and have to mount the flat screen again, I'm buying a TV stand that has the mount attached to the back of it. Then you have room for the components, and the look is almost identical to a wall mount, but without the permanence or the hassle.
I know this doesn't answer your question, but I didnt see those TV stands until after we wall-mounted our flat screen. Had I seen it before, and knowing what I know now - it would have been the better option for us. I hope it helps you too, or at least gives you another avenue to investigate...

Thanks for the input. However I do need professional help for concealing wires and stuff.
But I am curious about the TV stand which has a mount attached to the back of it. Do you have any links to these products so I can uderstand what these are?

I think she is talking about ones like these -- they either have a bar that rises up from the base, or some even have a wall-like backing. I'm considering something similar:

One of the best places to purchase mounts and A/V connectors. HDMI Cable, Home Theater Accessories, HDMI Products, Cables, Adapters, Video/Audio Switch, Networking, USB, Firewire, Printer Toner, and more!
Don't get ripped off by Best Buy and the like.

Here's a tip on concealing the wiring in the wall if you don't have an electrical outlet directly behind the TV on the wall where you're mounting it.
Hiding all of your cables in the wall is a problem if someone tries to run the high voltage power cable in the wall. Most local fire codes do not allow high voltage power cables to be run behind a wall as it can be a fire hazard and it won't pass inspection. A professional installer should know this and will install an electrical box that links to an electrical outlet normally near the floor using a solid core power cable.
This will definitely make the installation cost more than you might expect because of the parts needed to do it correctly. The other options are a stand as mentioned earlier or something like the "wiring solution" which can be mounted on the wall to conceal your wiring outside the wall. It can then be painted to match your wall color. It's basically a $50 piece of MDF board with texture, but it works. Again, a professional installer should know about this option as well. Good luck. Sorry I don't have any installer recommendations.

I was soo annoyed, i went all out and bought this very cool wall mounted glass rack for the wall so I had something nice to put the components on, and conceal all the extra wires that way. Once I got it home, I found out it had to be mounted on a stud. The studs were nowhere near the center of the TV, and while I could have opened the wall and added one in, that's about the point when I thought - "but we'll be moving to TX in 2 years or less! Is it worth the effort?" I packed it up, returned it, and bought a small glass table for the cable box. End of story, for this house...

I've used Monoprice too! Very good deal. A $4 HDMI cable works exactly the same as a $40 Best Buy one, no matter what the salesman tells you.
Incidentally, the newly opened Discount Electronics in South Austin (Manchaca & Slaughter) sells the Monoprice A/V cables.. they are marked up (like $10 for a $4 cable), but still cheaper than Best Buy if you have to get a HDMI or other A/V cable and don't want to wait for shipping.
