Can Walsh Ranch belong to Stoney Point High (Round Rock, Avery: 2010, how much)

Hi,

I am curious to know if Walsh Ranch community in Round Rock can belong to Stoney Point in future. RRISD rezones the schools frequently. Curretnly as I understand it, Walsh Ranch falls under Round Rock HIghschool and Walsh Middle school.

Your opinion will be great.

I don't live in RRISD but I caution anyone that might try to guess what a future attendance zone might be for a particular school. I don't really think RRISD redraws boundaries that often because it is so painful to do. Parents get ridiculously upset when their child has to change schools.

Typically how often do they rezone the schools in RRISD? Walsh ranch and RABC are convinient for me to work but I am concerned about rezoning. Walsh Ranch is specifically better because the middle school is within the community.

Depends on how much new building is going on around you where the schools would get overcrowded too quick due to new development.

If you're in a developed area with not much more going on then chances are slim.

My understanding is once you get one kid into a school the rest of the family gets grandfathered in. That is what someone told me so it may not be true.

I don't think Walsh Ranch would ever be a Stony Point neighborhood. First off - they try to keep 35 as a major east/west dividing line (except for north of University). While there have been crazier things, you're pretty close to RRHS and SPHS is probably at least twice as far away.

The most important question, probably, is will/would my kids be attending a new HS in a few years. I believe RRISD is planning a 6th HS in NW Round Rock between 3406 and 1431 a couple of miles west of 35.

You mentioned that RRISD is planning to build new highschool between 3406 and 1431. I also heard that they were planning to build new high school between Avery Ranch Blvd and 620. Does this mean that they are planning to build two highschools?

You really should seek facts on these issues. Go to the RRISD web site and look at their bond programs:

Round Rock ISD : Bond Programs

You will see that the 2006 bond program included funding for a new high school to open in 2010.

The 2008 bond program included funding for LAND for a future high school and a "school of choice" high school. It does not say when they will do this nor where.

It will take over $100M to build a new high school and it will take 2-3 years to complete (after the bond is passed for the funding).

I am actually looking for 4 year outlook on this. Do you happen to know if 2008 Porposition1 passed? If so have they purchased land for the new high school?

I'm sure whatever you've heard about this is similar to what I heard. They're just adding one HS - I just threw out the location I'd heard about. The location you mentioned isn't that far away. I have no idea if they've purchased land anywhere yet.

As the other person mentioned, as far as I know nothing is set in stone yet and construction has not started or anything, so they're still a few years out. I just mentioned it because I have no idea how old your kids are. I'd assume they'd be attending RRHS or whatever/wherever the new HS would be... either way - probably not SPHS.
