Default Movers

Who moved you? Specifically from a long distance. We are moving from Baltimore to Austin hopefully soon if our house sells.

What did you like/dislike about them? Where sis you move from and how much was it?
We will be packing ourselves and paying a company to move our things.

We had Allied movers for our last move from the Cincinatti Ohio area to San Antonio Texas and with us packing it cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $7000 I think (hubby signed the final bill I was to chicken to look). They were very nice, driver gave us his cell phone a day late but over all we were pleased. Now we are moving to Austin from San Antonio and the company is relocating us so they are paying but it happens to be Allied again. Funny how a move from SA to Austin is now scheduled to take 4 days!

Thanks for the links and info!
I was worried it would cost this much. We have family that moved from Baltimore to Tampa and they packed everything themselves, rented a truck and drove it themselves and paid around 4000. I thought that was kind of high but maybe not?
I'm rethinking now and maybe we should do the same. I would really hate to spend a ridiculous amount on moving. I'd rather take all the proceeds from our house sale to put down on another house. It sucks that moving costs so much

We just moved from WA to Austin and it was a co. move with United. They packed and everything
According to my movers, about a $1.00 a pound and he put us at about $12,000-$14,000. That was for me, my husband and 3 kiddos.
I'm sure if you pack yourself, it will be much cheaper Plus it's a good excuse to get rid of a bunch of stuff you don't need or want or like anymore
