Seems like development in Bastrop County sank like a stone even before the recession when gas prices when up. That is a good thing since we don't need more people moving to the outer fringes of this area to leap frog developments and then complaining about how long it takes them to get to work in Austin/Round Rock.

coachrick,

I will start a new thread. I guess I don't always look at the dates either when posting. I am very interested in these areas too.

We used to live in the area. We have friends in the Colony and they hate it. Nothing but problems with the HOA. Not sure who is right or wrong, am only getting one side of the story, but enough to make me look elsewhere.
Colovista is very nice, with very nice, but expensive homes, and an addition 10 miles further from Austin.

thanks for the heads up on strict HOA's. Seems I will be much better off on private land.

If you want the inside scoop about HOA's then do a search on this forum for IC_deLight. A wealth of information to be had! I'm so grateful I read their informative posts. I cannot imagine what life would be like locked into an HOA. Ugh, I wouldn't last long. Where we lived before moving here I had never even heard of an HOA. (I refer to them as Hoe-ah's) Affectionately, of course.
