2005 West Campus Murder Question
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if anyone lives in The Orange Tree Condominium that Jennifer Cave was murdered in? I believe it was unit #88. Someone told me that no one lives there and that because of the murder, rent for the 2 bedroom condo is in the $200 range.
For those of you unfamiliar with what I'm talking about, back in August 2005, Colton Pitonyak murdered his date, Jennifer Cave at this condo he lived in.

I don't know. There are some people not bothered by that.

I wouldn't care, and if the rent is $200 in West Campus I can't see any way that no one lives there.

I know some people wouldn't be too bothered by it. I'm not one to believe in ghosts or the supernatural, but I still would be creeped out there alone at night I think.
I'm not 100% about it being in the 200s; that's just what I heard. You're right, it does seem extremely low for West Campus. My apartment is right down the street from this one and the leasing company wanted to pre-lease for next year for $1600.
Even if not in the 200s though, I'm sure it is somewhat discounted. I'd be interested in finding out what it's going for.

If I know someone died in a place, especially in an unnatural circumstance, I would not want to stay there.

No way I would live there. Those two nuts hacked that girl to pieces, yuck. Bad karma.

Well, after searching about the story it certainly isn't going to help me sleep. What was the end result of the sentencing for both of them?

Pitonyak was sentenced to 55 years, but is eligible for parole after serving half of the sentence. He should have been sentenced to life without parole or death.

Laura Hall was originally sentenced to 5 years...but has been released.

You probably are better off not thinking about what went on in your West Campus condo before you moved in. You'll be haunted by ghost of frat guys past...
