Plus to raid a gay bar on the 40th anniversary of Stonewall, and to fracture someone's skull in the process. Nice, gay friendly place - the metroplex?? Where's artsyguy on this? When last was an Austin gay bar raided resulting in serious injuries? Heck, when last was the gay bar in Waco raided?

Blah, blah, blah...the actions of a few cops don't reflect the attitudes of the entire metroplex.

Tell that to the guy in the ICU. Glad to see though that some Fort Worth city council members are calling for an investigation.

What's worse is when the cops are waiting in the bar parking lot and they ticket you for a PI when you walk out the door to go to your car...with a designated driver. That happened to a couple of friends a few years ago.

Tell him what? That everyone in DFW wanted him to have an intracranial hemorrhage?

Can people be less reactionary/inflammatory and use some sense once in a while?

My gay friend was beat up in Austin...the whole city must be homophobic...so must the state of Oregon and Taxachussetts...cuz I know people who were hurt there, too.

I don't quite understand the point of this thread being on the Austin subforum instead of F***ed Worth or Texarse.

I should have stated it in my OP but as I clarified in post #10, I think this has enormous implications for the Austin nightclub scene if TBAC officals can come into nightclubs and start arresting people for "public intoxication".

I seem to recall that there actually was some TABC harrassment at Oilcan Harry's back late last century or earlier this one. Otherwise, PI arrests out on the streets usually mean that the person is behaving badly -- nothing actually to do with being intoxicated per se (you can be three sheets and discreet and you aren't going to be arrested).

I was reading that in Texas, PI can include being intoxicated in a bar/club.
