I just got a job teaching for Hutto ISD, but I live in north central Austin (south of 183 between Burnet and Lamar). I prefer living in the city and making the commute. It takes me about 25-30 minutes using the toll roads and it's an easy drive since there's so little traffic headed that way. I like living in the city because there's so much to do, people seem a little more open-minded, and I like my old, established neighborhood. I'm also a big foodie and love being near Whole Foods and so many great restaurants. I've just never been much of a fan of living in the suburbs, but that's just me! I also don't have kids, which probably makes a difference.

Hutto ISD seems great, by the way! I previously worked for Round Rock ISD who have a much better reputation, but so far I've been much more impressed with Hutto's facilities, administration, and the resources available to teachers.

Did you realize that many of the schools in Hutto were just ranked recognized?

Which school will you be teaching at?

And yes, I think the Hutto schools are great schools!

I'm subbing for the first time at all of them. I may just ask if I can sub at CCE, since my daughter goes there.

I'm teaching at Hutto High School. We got a tour the other day of the new facility and it is gorgeous!

They also told us about being ranked recognized. It seems like the growth of the city really took a toll on the schools, so I'm glad some of the programs they've implemented are starting to work.

I love the principal at CCE. She's very excited about the Recognized rating but says we have to work hard to keep it and aim for exemplary. I agree

Mostly white, Flat, treeless, cookie cutter Dr Horton special homes built 5 feet apart, mostly uneducated, poor people. A couple of new strip centers off 79. If you can afford to take that extra "leap" and move to Round Rock, you would be doing yourself a favor.
