One thing that AISD and Round Rock have in common is that there are huge differences between some of the schools. ie. Stoney Point and Westwood. Leander makes an effort to keep the school populations more balanced. It helps that the school district is "open" (kids can transfer from school to school without a reason) Of course, AISD and RRISD are bigger and I'm sure Leander will be facing more of those issues as it grows.

Yeah. Wahoo's is on 5th I think. The only one in Texas is in Austin. I knew we picked a good place to move
You'll know it's Wahoo's because of all the stickers in the windows. Well, the sign helps too.

Austin.Round Rock....from Trabuco Canyon/RSM to Austin to who knows where next
Hi all!
1. Wahoos Rock...I'm missing PICK UP STIX more than ever!!!!
2. Speaking of Rock...there's ROUND ROCK ISD...I have put 100 teachers into their graduate program (M.Ed) in the Round Rock are in the last 4 months. They are good students...and not fussy. Usually if they are good students...they are good teachers. They are all from Round Rock, Pflugerville and Cedar Park...these teachers range in age from 21-55. They really are eager to stay up to speed on the latest education trends. I've been teaching teachers how to teach for over 20 years...and Texas, over all, has some great quality schools (I've experienced Illinois, California, West Virginia, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Colorado, and Wisconsin)
3. If you are coming from RSM, you'll enjoy Austin's Hill Country (like the park in Trabuco Canyon). It definitely has a Dove Canyon feel to it in Spicewood -- down Spicewood Springs Road (be careful, it floods like Trabuco does -- and they will close the road like they do near the Rose Cantina..). I lived in Foothill Ranch, Trabuco Canyon and Ultimately Silverado Canyon (right down the street where that rock hit that girl in the mudslides of 2004)
4. Cost of living will amaze you because comparatively it's a great bang for your buck. My place is twice as large for 1/3 of the price (I'm renting)
5. And remember that the slogan for Austin is "Keep Austin Weird". They have a website for it...and this is a "good weird"...there is just about everything perfectly quirky to experience in Austin....
6. Yes, the 2007 Austin summer...well, I moved to CA and brought the mudslides, moved to West Virginia last year and brought severe ice storms... moved to Austin in April , 2007...and ITS ALL MY FAULT..the rain is here... (lol!)
GOOD NEWS ---I'm moving back to Chicagoland - which is where I am now (which two days ago...had a tornado which held me in a basement until it passed over)....So Austin's weather woes are over...I HOPE.... I really do carry black clouds over my head...at least weather wise.
7. ENJOY Austin all you So. Cal people....you'll fit right in...I did..and liked it BUNCHES...
Cheers,
MGrayce14
PS: Please keep me in your positive thoughts...my fiance passed away 8/3...my dad passed away on 8/6 and then my program was cut and I lost my job on 8/9...hence my relocation back to my hometown area of Chicagoland Illinois...

Oh my gosh...What a lot you've gone through in such a short time. Stay strong, and even though we've never talked before, I'll keep you in my prayers.
