St. Edwards University Evacuated?
What's going on there at St. Edwards?
http://www.postchronicle.com/news/or...21275447.shtml
All I'm getting online is that there was a bomb threat and the school was evacuated. Anything local coming out? Is it a hoax?
Looks like a copycat nutjob. How scary and tragic all of this is.
I teach at a community college and I can't imagine going through that.

I was just reading that. I guess nothing came of it, but they said they were erring on the side of caution. Classes are suspended tomorrow, as well, I believe.

I'm a St. Ed's student so I've been getting email updates all day:
The campus was originally closed until noon, then that was extended until 5:00. Now they have canceled all the night courses as well. Classes *will* resume tomorrow morning, though. Also, all the classes at the PEC (extension campus in North Austin) will continue as scheduled today and tomorrow.
I'm not sure of the specifics of the bomb threat, but apparently a note was found in a women's bathroom this morning. I imagine it's a copycat situation inspired by yesterday's events at Virginia Tech. As far as I know, nothing has come of it. Then again, they probably wouldn't want to admit if there *was* a bomb due to the risk of making the campus feel unsafe for all us students who are paying $600 per-credit-hour to go there....

JREAD...that's hilarious
Seriously though, I'm glad nothing's happened. That V-Tech thing is about as much of that sort of thing I can take at the moment
Friggin' crazy.

Yes, it's good that nothing turned up from the search. To be honest, it's the end of the semester and I think that a lot of students are trying to find creative ways to get out of taking exams (though leaving a bomb threat that closes the school for a full day is going way too far).
