Default Boating: Lake Austin vs Lake Travis

Which lake do you consider more fun for boating in? My initial observations are that Lake Austin is more scenic and Travis better for watersports. Are there many slips/docks on L Austin to rent?

Friends who put a boat on Lake Austin say it got boring pretty fast. Essentially you can go up river or down river, but there aren't many places you can go to anchor, swim or hang out. Marina's where you can rent a slip are very limited. Travis has much more variety.

Travis is much better, It's way bigger. But, of course, better enjoy Travis pretty quick. From the news story last night, the lake is so low they are down to one ramp and making people launch one boat at a time. I have a feeling it may be close to shut down for a while. It's at 50% capacity. You may be better off checking out one of the other Highland Lakes.

I should add that in the past Lake Travis was declared as the most dangerous body of water in Texas due to the drunken drivers on high speed powerboats there.
