Default California versus Texas

Interesting article from the Economist:

California v Texas: America's future | The Economist

One common thread is the states' relationship with Mexico and the education of Hispanic kids.

California wins HANDS DOWN. Give em a couple of years to get out of their current funk. They are dealing with a lot of issues right now, but California SHALL RISE AGAIN!! It is and WILL always be the greatest, most powerful state in the nation. No other state can touch it, and no other state ever will.

I didn't know that there was rivalry between Texas and California.
The comparisons didn't start til many Californians left their state for others.
Why compare ? We don't want to be like California. We are Texas.

I, for one, hope Texas NEVER becomes what California is or was.

If you guys are just waiting it out here in Texas for California to return to greatness so you can "go home" then fine, treat Texas as tourist spot while you live here but don't try to change it.

I'm really, really tired of this entire debate. The great thing about the 2001-05 Post 911 era is that we didn't have these pointless, petty squabbles about what state is better than what other one. If the folks from one of these two states is quantitatively more arrogant that the other it is by the slimmest of margins.
