Default Downtown Georgetown

Hi all! I am looking at purchasing a home in the downtown Georgetown. I love the older (50 years +) homes because of the charm and originality.

Here is my question.... I have heard that the downtown area is going through revitalization. I figure it's probably pretty diverse now, but wonder if it will turn into a "higher end" downtown in the years to come. Any input??

Also, I know the schools for downtown G'town aren't that great, so we will probably put our kids in private school until 6th grade (as the jr high and high schools are ranked very well). Any input on good private schools?

I moved to Round Rock since I couldn't afford a home in Georgetown. I know which area you are talking about where those homes where - my favorite neighborhood is the ones facing the college off of University/29 - all the tree named streets!

I know they've been fixing up downtown, and if you still want to buy a house, I'd hurry up before the prices go up even more!

We were extremely happy with our daughter's experience at Community Montessori School in Georgetown.

Community Montessori School - Georgetown, Texas

I'm afraid I don't understand your question about downtown, though...

You're talking about Old Town, and, yes, people are buying houses there and fixing them up. Whether or not it will become "higher end" depends on what you mean by that term. Could you explain?

My kids are grown now, but I've heard good things about several schools in the area. Zion Lutheran in Walburg and Grace Academy are a couple that friends have had their children in that they highly regarded. Of course, as someone who's had her children in both public and private schools, I know that which school is best depends a great deal on the child - my son and daughter both went to different private schools, the one that was great for him would have been a disaster for her, and vice versa. So you'll need to check them out yourself with your own child in mind.

I work on the square in Georgetown! You will love it. Make sure you check out the First Fridays. Thats when many of the vendors on the square offer food and entertainment. We went this last friday and had so much fun. The homes there are nice too, I really like the homes and the quaint atmosphere in Georgetown. There are many homes for sale around the area, I hope you find the one you love. Good luck in your decision. Kelly
