Within, say, a 60-mile radius?

Don't know anything about them, but Brushy Creek Trophy Ranch pops up on google, though they say they're in Leander, near Rockdale, and I don't consider Leander to be "near" Rockdale. However, both are within 60 miles of Austin.

I would imagine most of the wildlife is in east Texas, per the arid, hilly terrain of west texas, though I'd be interested in something out west as well......God knows Texas has plenty of domesticated beef, though, mostly in the north ranch country.......pass by all those everytime I drive back home to visit north to Dallas then eastwards.....

There is not the game type of large game here that is up north that you are thinking about. Most of the game that is brought into Texas is from similar climates such as Africa and whatnot. Very hard to find a Moose here that will do well here becaise of the heat...East Texas is pretty much the same way.

i thought that picture of the cattle was supposed to be huntable game for a sec. the thought crossed my mind of "how hard can it possibly be to hunt a cow, just walk up to it with a mallet and bonk it on the head. done and dinner is on!"

Crawford isn't that far from Austin IMO.

There are quite a few animals on a ranch there that I'd recommend for target practice.

Dang, do I see milk on his lips??? That is a very young Elk.

Yes, there are hundreds if not 1000's of private hunting outfitters within an hour of Austin.

You can hunt Axis, Hogs and numerous exotics, year around here in Texas.
I have heard of Buffalo hunts with stick & string, no smoke poles. Actually there are a lot more archery opportunities then smoke pole places.

On my bike rides I see a place of of Parmer just south of Crystal Falls PkWy that has a hunting sign. It didn't say what kind, I'm kinda hoping it isn't for cyclists..... Not sure how large of game they have in that area though
