I'll keep you posted have to wait a few days, hopefully it was in time so we can begin the trial period for the adoption this weekend. My son is so excited.

If that made you tear up, get ready with a box of kleenex...my husband, Bob had his faithful lab/greyhound mix for 16 years (even got a tattoo with her paw prints and name after she died). They always enjoyed runs on the beach at South Padre...so on Memorial Day, 2006 we took her ashes to South Padre to scatter on the beach. It was kinda eerie, if you can picture this: Cold, overcast early morning, just after sunrise. We stopped and Bob opened the little box to begin the ceremony - at that precise moment the clouds parted and a ray of sunlight lit up the sand where we stood. We finished the ceremony and Bob had tears in his eyes (how men do) my tears were free-rolling. We turned to run along the beah as they'd done many times before when the heavens opened up and downpoured on us. We were drenched from head to foot by the time we got back to the car - and I spontaneously suggested we run naked in the sand dunes... (fill in the blank)
Despite a close call with a solitary car with its lights coming down the road, Bob could be heard standing at the top of the sand dune smiling and laughing. It's a memory we'll never forget. But it has taken a long time for him also. He was so attached to his dog. The new dog will really be for our son, but I know it will bring a lot of joy into our home, especially for Bob who loves animals. He currently is the Deer Daddy of Lago Vista (I'm sure some of the deer think he is one of them), he put deer horns on Christmas day and paraded around with them!

Great story, BTW!......
Isn't it funny how they are like losing a family member?

Y'all are killing me here! My girl will be 10 in late November and sometimes I can't help thinking about when it's her time to move on. She's still pretty active but starting to get a little stiff and sleeping more. The problem with dogs is they just don't live long enough The first 3 years are brutal hell and then they settle into wonderful companions only to be gone within 12-15 years if you're lucky.

But I guess it's true: they just don't need as long as we do to make a positive contribution. From day one until the end, they never fail to make us feel like the most important people in the world. Who else can we say that about?

People can bring their dogs out (mutt or not) and enjoy a day outside with their pooch, friends, and food.
Great idea.

We had our 14 year old Lab put to sleep last year. Couldn't believe that day had come. It was such a difficult decision. She will forever be in my heart, and I thought she would be the last. Too painful. I'm so glad we decided to adopt two Labs (sisters). Taking care of them and going on our daily walks are two of the pleasures in my life.

That's pretty wild that we found a pic that looked just like Sweet Sandi....again, looking at those pics is like looking at a lost family member, especially one smiling like that!
