Sprouts
Yeah! If you live in Round Rock you may have seen that the soon to open Sprouts has their new building nice and ready. How exciting! They held their Job Fair this weekend even. I will miss shopping at Sun Harvest, but not the 30 minute drive to Austin to get good and affordable groceries.

I have heard about this, but where exactly is the store located? I am very excited to check it out.

On the corner of 620 and I35. Where Albertson's used to be. By Starbucks, McDonalds, Little Ceasar's, etc.

The one in Rollingwood looks like it will be big, but it's still very much under construction (passed by there today). It doesn't have an open date on the sign, but I'd imagine it would be no sooner than the fall.
Since they are opening 5 locations in the Austin area, they must be employing quite a few people! I wonder what it is about the Austin grocery market that seems so appealing to them. I mean, they'll be competing with home-town competition like Whole Foods and Central Market (basically home town). Plus chains like Sun Harvest and Newflower.
I wonder if we are about to have organic grocery wars here in Austin...

I would not compare them to WF or CM, as they are not targeted to the same population. They were, though, competing for the "spot" in RR with Sun Harvest, that I know from very reliable sources. The store here in RR, according to their website, will open in September.

I see there is one opening at Mopac & 183.
I used to shop at Sprouts when I lived in AZ; mainly for their produce and meat (sale items). It saved me a lot of money on my grocery bill. They also carry a decent wine/beer selection from what I remember and I also liked their bulk bins.

There is one opening in Sunset Valley off Brodie lane, too! I am supposing this will be similar to Newflower Market? I have never heard of or been to a Sprouts.

Sprouts doesn't even compare to a Central Market or Whole Foods. Completely different stores. Sprouts buys things from local farmers in bulk that they had too much of for the "regular" stores to buy. You'll find that they don't always have everything, because if the other stores are buying it, they can't get it. But when they have stuff that you want, C-H-E-A-P!!!
This also helps the local farmers and their businesses.

The Statesman claims that they're going to open up in the old Albertson's at 183 & Anderson Mill. I really hope that's true.
