Chicago Sandwich Shop Coming to Austin!
I am SO excited about this...Potbelly Sandwiches, which is based in Chicago, is opening up two locations in Austin!
They make hot toasted sandwiches...kind of what Quizno's aspires to be, but doesn't quite make it. They're very kitschy and cool and I haven't had one in 8 years now. Used to walk to one all the time when I lived in Chicago, so I am ecstatic this is happening!!!

Yea!! One more reason to move to Austin; just need a great Chicago pizza place (Mangia's ain't it), and add a Portillo's, and I can say goodbye to the weight loss goals ....
(and don't worry, both would still keep Austin "weird"!)

O.K, I found their website and read the menu, and now I'm hungry! I know Chicago is not quite the East coast, but when I was in New York visiting a friend and her husband, they took me and my husband to Carnegie Deli and it was so good. Well, anyway, reading that menu made me think of that, so when it comes here and if it's as good as you say, We'll give it a shot. Man, now I've got a craving and no food to quelch it!

I had one of their sandwiches at the Potbellys at the Chicago Midway Airport in November on a long lay over, It was a good sandwich, and I liked the way they got you thru the line fast but the service was very good.

The only thing that would make this complete is a Pizzeria Uno deep dish (or possibly one from Gino's) and a day game at Wrigley Field.
Let's play two!

You would think there'd be an Uno in Austin considering the chain was founded by a former Longhorn football player.

To this day, the sandwich I got at this place in Midway is the best food I have ever gotten in an airport, and was at a really good price, to boot!

Don't Houston and Dallas already have Potbelly Sandwiches? It looks like it from their website map anyway...

The ABJ article made it sound like they're not in Texas yet...
