WTF is going on? I'm sitting here and it's a typical August day; light breeze and hotter than the pits of hell, and this wind gust hit and blew all the plants/furniture off my front porch and into the lawn. I felt the house shake a little bit it was so strong....

No.

but there was a similar gust of wind two days ago at my house. All the trees bent over, I thought that a tornado must be on the way but then it passed and nothing.

I would guess that it is related to the heat in the late afternoons?

Interesting. It probably is a common phenomenon with the crazy heat and high pressure we have going on, but I have personally never experienced it until today.
