To those posters who are untrusting of the kid made lemonade, there is nothing to stop you from passing on the lemonade and giving a donation.

Case in point, we have kids come by selling things for fundraisers...if it's a worthy cause, we will usually donate and not necessarily buy anything. OP, may the kids need to add a line "DONATIONS ACCEPTED" with a HUGE SMILEY FACE.

Hmmm....my kids have done their share of fundraising for high school sports. They never did lemonade but they generally found many generous people - including some who over-donated - give $10 for something selling for $5.

But it was all for a local cause - maybe that was a difference.

I just thought of another possible reason - I very rarely carry cash.

Point is well taken and Im just funnin a little, but kids love to "make the sale" they want to brag about how fast the pitcher went empty. Better to say "That lemonade with grass floating in it looks so refreshing I think its worth 3X what your asking but just give me half a cup as sugar makes me fatter" then when you round the corner you dump it down the storm grate.

I just don't understand, when I see kids with a lemonade stand I usually stop and get something to make them happy. Is it just me?

We did end up saving the day by donating the lemonade and cookies to the fire station down the street. They gobbled them up and gave the kids a tour of the fire station and trucks.
Austin had I believe the lowest donation rate to charity in the nation so its not all that surprising.

I think its so beautiful that your daughters wanted to raise money for MS research! I'm so impressed that as children they even know what MS is! I sold lemonade and cupcakes when i was little, but to be honest it wasn't for charity, i was just getting my capitalist groove on LOL.
Next time, post where your kids will be, and i'll get some lemonade! And i really don't care how it tastes, its the thought that counts!

I think you missed my point. I'm not afraid of the kids poisoning the lemonade. Rather, there are so many freaks selling stuff in Austin that I have simply become numb to the whole process. I don't even bother to see what they're selling or who they are because there is about a 99% chance that it's a druggie selling something I don't want. I know that's wrong, and I should pay more attention, but that's the result of these pushy hippies by the drag.

I know a couple people with MS. When I lived in Washington state there are a lot more people with MS for some reason. Over the last 2 years I have raised a lot of money for MS research with my rides (over $6k) so my daughters hear me talk about it a lot. In fact, in 30 days I'm riding at Mount Rushmore as a fundraiser. that may kill me. 15000+ feet of climbing.

Woodinvilleguy, what a great inspiration you are to your kids!
I'm sure you're also heartened to see so many here in this forum would support the kids' efforts next time. Did I miss which part of Austin you're located, if it's the Northside, I may even swing by myself. Good luck with the Mount Rushmore bike ride. Do you partake in any local ones? We have the Prima Vera bike ride every year in Lago Vista at the beginning of March.
