Help with Rental: I have a German Shepherd
Hello all,
I will be relocating to Austin in a couple months and will need to rent. As I am sure most of you are aware, but German Shepherds are on the aggressive breed list. It doesn't matter that my boy is a gentle baby.
Criteria:
1) I'd prefer a newer location in the middle of downtown
2) But I would better prefer walking distance to a nice park
3) Dog friendly (65 pound German Shepherd)
4) I only need a 1 bedroom
I contacted a few of the lofts that I was interested and of course they don't allow large dogs/restricted breeds. I know we have some local real estate/locators here, so I thought I'd ask. I feel like this is a better approach than randomly selecting a service online.
Are there any reputable people here that are willing to help me and my GSD find a nice rental?
Thanks so much.

Chris! I was in your same boat, a lot of agencies don't allow dogs over a certain weight limit, yet I found a rental agency that deals with some campus/downtown properties that usually allow bigger pets: eyesoftexasproperties.com, the people there were very friendly & I've used them in the past. They've got a wide variety of housing available, so it's not just apartments, but houses or duplex or something of that sort. Unfortunately, I don't have a dog that is on the aggressive breed list, but if they don't allow you to rent, definitely check craigslist as well.
Hope you find what you're looking for, and good luck!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE German Shepherds! I think they're great dogs and just get a bad rap, sort of like Dobies. When I was a kid that's the only kind of dog we ever had...that and siamese cats. Maybe look at a house or there are some apartments that allow larger dogs.

Wow great responses so far (aside from our friend Charles)!
Keep them coming - they are very much appreciated.
It is too bad that some breeds are automatically on the restricted list, but I'm sure it comes down to what their insurance will cover.
