Hello All,

My wife and I finally have some extra money and want to buy a nice patio dining set for the backyard. We have a fairly large concrete patio and would like to buy something to eat and sit on back there. We are going to check Lowes, Home Depot, Sams, and Garden Ridge. Can anyone suggest anywhere else? We are particularly looking for a table that seats 8 and preferably not have a glass top.

I actually got a really nice set on Overstock.com last year. The shipping is close to free and the set looks really nice. Their return policy isn't that great, so make sure you read the reviews.

Also, I think if you wait a month, they should be on sale everywhere as we come to the end of summer.

Now's the time to purchase that kind of stuff at Lowe's & Home Depot since it's all on clearance.

Last Sunday, I made an impulse purchase of 4 very nice hardwood Adirondack chairs at Lowe's for $75 each. They were marked down from $180 each.

I found a nice set a couple years ago at the Sears Grand at Parmer/35. I did get it on clearance, but I don't remember exactly what time of year it was.

If they are still there, Smith and Hawken had some very nice teak sets along with a smaller black metal(heavier than aluminum, not wrought iron though) set that arrived just before the clearance started. Was 30% off then.

World Market has some wood(rubber wood? or similar) sets that are a good value(probably 1/3 the price of S and H furniture) when on sale...if exposed to the weather(like ours), I would expect a 3-4 year life span...much longer if protected from the weather.

We had a powder-coated set(pretty nice) in Atlanta...held up very well--exposed year-round...from one of the 'local' Atlanta patio shops. It's hard to pull the trigger when they are not on sale but the higher quality sets really hold up better to the elements.

Funny how the seasons are different here compared to Atlanta...Austin is just about to enter the outdoor season(IMO)...other places are closing out patio furniture because it's the end of the season.

I think we bought ours in Georgetown.
Georgetown Fireplace & Patio

Not sure where, but there are other places like this in communities just outside of Austin. I'm not a big fan of Craigslist, but saw several listed on there when we were looking.
