Thank You Everyone for your replies, they have been most helpful and reassuring.

Our daughter is actually excited by the possibility of moving, more so than I am. She loves her school and she is only soso about her friends, her best friend moved away earlier this year and they have become great penpals, so she has learned that moving is not so bad.

We might actually be coming very soon to check out the area.

Anybody have any idea of a good Property Management Office that I could get in touch with so I could set up some appointments to see what houses are for rent/ lease or is it mostly just listings in the paper and you drive by?

Thanks

You should probably get an agent to help you - they'll have access to the house listings on the MLS (and most house listings are on the MLS) and will be able to send you possibilities in advance to give you an idea of what's available (you'll have a lot more information than would be available in a newspaper ad), and also information on the area. Just like with purchasing a house, your agent will be paid by the leasing agent for the property, so you might as well take advantage!

As for finding one, you might want to check out the blogs of some agents in the area (Active Rain is a good place to start looking for some) and see if anyone clicks with you. Or read the agents on here - there's quite a few - and see if anyone sounds like someone you'd like to work with.

Round Rock does not have the best schools but when comparing to Arizona you will be overjoyed. The schools on the west side of I-35 are generally better throughout the metroplex.

I moved from Round Rock to Avondale, Az and now back thank goodness. I knew quite a few people that also moved from Austin to Az. All of them want to live here again. Round Rock is pretty small and retains a small town feel. No place is too far. Well, we never cross south of Austin - but I ve heard its not really that bad (Just Kidding!) Why would you need to - we have everything within a few miles?
