Default Best Places to live in and around Austin

Relocating to either Austin or Dallas. Looking for advice on best towns around Austin to raise a family as a single mother. New home communities with homes between 300-425K. Minimum of 3500 sq ft, 4+ bedrooms, 3.5+ baths, 3 car garage and pool. Good schools and lots of child related activities (dance, acting, gymnaastics, etc).

Any advice would be great
Thanks

Circle C or Meridian(brand new elementary in fall 2010) in SW Austin. Wonderful schools and a great place to raise kids. Where wil you be working? It's just a 25 minute rush hour commute to the city and only about 15 minutes on the weekends.

Are you looking for a house with its own pool, or a neighborhood with a community pool?

You can find what you're looking for in Dripping Springs amongst other places. Where you will work and the commute you are willing to do will be major factors in where you look. Good homes, neighborhoods and schools are fairly easy to find in all areas of the city and surrounding areas.

Check out Belterra, HighPointe and Hidden Springs Ranch. I think they all will meet your requirements, and you get small town benefits, and drawbacks.

You might also consider the Eanes school district in Westlake near the Hwy360 and Hwy1 interchange. They have an outstanding school system, it's a quick trip to the airport, and there is a major mall nearby. The downside is that community is more expensive to live in and you will be paying $150-$200/sq ft for a home.

What you are looking for can be found in about 80 neighborhoods & 10 suburban towns in greater Austin. We probably need to know more of what you are looking for....in order to offer suggestions on narrowing it down.

Here's a handy link on individual school performance (just click near Austin):

Just curious, why do you need a minimum of 3500 sq ft?
