Default Eden Park Academy

We will be moving from Northern CA next summer due to job transfer. We have two children and have begun looking at schools. We love our present school and Eden Park Academy seems to be very similar to it. I would love to hear from anyone with children there.

Thanks

Brian

It looks like it's rated well on greatschools.net. I spoke to a co-worker that said she knows a family that has a child that goes there and is pleased. I'm trying to find more information than that though.

My old neighbor sends both of her daughters to this school, and she now tutors part time there. She LOVES this school and pulled both her daughters out of regular public schools to attend.

What does this school offer that the others don't? I can't get a good feel for the school based on their crappy website.

It is an open enrollment charter school that has a year-round schedule. They are an exemplary school. They seem to focus on individualizing education and operating from the premise of multiple intelligences and student strengths.

Other than that, it is hard to know without visitings and meeting some of the families and staff.

I think that one of the draws is the location: mid-to-far south Austin where there are not a lot of exemplary schools to chose from. It seems like a solid choice if you are in that area but many other parts of Austin have charter and public schools that are just as good.

I'm looking at moving to that area and the other school options aren't great. I really like the houses at Independence Park but am concerned about the public school so that's why I'm interested in Eden. I'm getting divorced and ex doesn't want to help pay for private school so I'm relying on public schools. There's a condo I like that is cheaper and is in EANES but not sure I want to live the condo life. Decisions, decisions...
