Default zombies

Did the kids turn into zombies today?

I'll be in trouble if mine walk through the door in a glassy eyed state chanting "oboma change... change oboma..." or they may get home floating like a butterfly chanting "I am the greatist"

Most likly it will be the same old thing,"i'm hungry, whats to eat"

By now I'm sure you've discovered it was the latter.

I asked my son about it. He said "it was a pretty good speech" and that Obama "told us we should keep trying at something even if it wasn't that easy and to just deal with it." I was amused. He also liked that he didn't have to do school work while watching so he was pleased. I asked him if all of his classmates watched or did anyone leave and he said everyone was there, so despite the opt out option in this SW Austin elementary school, his class fully participated.

My daughter said she didn't want to watch it at all and it was boring (she's in 1st grade). Lately, everything is boring to her The only thing she wondered about was where the White House was.

Interesting. Standing in the street this afternoon jiving with some neighbors. One has an 11 year old boy. When asked what he thought, he replied, "Comme ci, comme ca. Cliched, to say the least."

Maybe Obama was speaking to the wrong crowd. Especially considering 11yo's are now speaking French . . . in Texas!

According to a child at Nadine Elementary, Hutto, "the video kept freezing President Obama's face, all the children laughed and the guy said he couldn't fix the problem."

I showed it to my third grade class here in Georgia and I think it inspired a few of them. Of course there are those that could care less as well. All of my students also participated and I think it is gross that the parents had a choice on whether or not they should watch it...

You should take her on a field trip to see it!

Gross that parents had the choice? Really? And just what is so gross about that?

Much ado about nothing. The conservative right has taken over the shrill that used to eminate from the liberal left while GW was President. The speech was quite measured. Considering how many kids do not have father figures or involved parents, I thought the message was excellent. What is controversial about personal responsibility and making use of educational opportunities? And the build up to the speech; what ever happened to listening to differing opinions? Is that now un-American?
