My husband works at DELL and he just sent me an email saying a bunch of people were fired today. I know that some where let go last week as well.

The Statesman is reporting that layoffs have begun. It has apparently hit engineering, and other full time positions.

According to this article Dell is going to continue to lay off 10% off the workforce over the next 12 months, because they are fat. It makes sense...if they want to be on top of the competition, they need to reduce their costs.

The rumor is that the third round of layoffs at AMD is coming in July - 20-30%

It cant be great for the immediate round rock area. But if you are buying a home in the area -- I would imagine that you are planning to be in the home for 5- 7 years. It may cause a slight dip in the immediate market but the it will recover.

it just hit hard in nashville - a whole division of techs were let go, as well as very talented managers and coaches with years of tenure
