Seattle and Madison, Wisc. slowly ebbed off those lists, and were the better for it, as things got back to normal, and the PR hype agents went into permanent hibernation......looks like Austin might be getting that way(re:normal)

But now they are hyping other Texas Cities and communities...Keller, San Antonio (mentioned in several of those lists), Ft. Worth, Dallas, Corpus Christi and Houston.

As Austin has grown it has lost some of the small town appeal that attracted people and has developed more of the same problems that larger cities have had. I think Austin has reached the point where it is better off with a slower growth rate. Give us a chance to deal with the problems growth brings.

To be fair and accurate - that first link is for "best places to live -America's best small towns" Even if you're from NYC, it's a stretch to call Austin a small town. And Seattle never got back to "normal" after falling off of those lists, it still has awful traffic and an inflated cost of living.

And link number two has Austin as # 8 for best large cities for vegetarians.

You are correct on both counts. I didn't read those two carefully enough. Thanks for correcting this.
