Well, the bearers of bad news have never been welcomed...they were killed back in the middle ages...I certainly don't expect a brass band welcome.....

Fact is, this website is set up default for positive PR as a relocation venue, with real estate agents "trolling" themselves all over these boards, with
REAL ESTATE AGENT blazoned over their name.......this isn't a place for the reality of what's actually happening in Austin......and surely never will be......

Well I don't want to have a flame war with you, inthecut. I'm not a real estate agent, I'm not looking to sell anything or buy anything, I'm comfortable with living where I live and I'm not here for any reason other than to ask questions and be helpful when I can. Having said all of that, I want to point out that you just compared yourself to a middle ages martyr. Give us all a break! I don't think what you're doing is so important that you should compare yourself to someone else who actually died for a cause. (Unless you think the realtors are right now conspiring to assasinate you.)

Well, you have a 1800's Russian handle, so perhaps the Tsar has sent you to assassinate me.......
So be it, let it be done with.......

Don't be so fatalistic. Maybe the Tsar just want your toenails pulled out.

House prices going down is good news, not bad news.

Well good and bad. Good for those looking to buy but bad for those that bought at the height of prices.

That's a silly statement. Bad news for the seller. I guess you aren't a homeowner.

Theoretically good news for home owners (i.e., appraisals).

Saying lower house prices is good isn't silly. You see what happened during the last decade when the entire country was rooting for and betting on ever increasing home prices. Personally, I think that was pretty silly.

And, yes, I am a homeowner.

And the notion that your home is your nest egg has also come crashing down. That is a good thing since stocks historically perform better and are more liquid. You can't just sell off a bathroom when you need a few bucks.....Of course many realtors pushed forward the idea that you should spend as much as you possibly can on a house to the point where so many people where buying above their needs.
