Child's Way in Oak Hill is wonderful. Lots of parent participation. You will get to know the families, the teachers and the director's very well. My daughter attended for 3 years and she still talks about her days at Child's Way. The program is play based but the older classes are more structured with Pre-K curriculum. I ran into one of there teachers at the Region 13 Pre- K readiness training. There might be a waiting list as there was when my child was there but that was 9 years ago. The school has a Rising Star status.

You know...any criticism means more when knowing the families rendering the statements. I am always one who likes to find out for myself. That being said, do some specific research about teacher turnover, teacher pay, Pre K curriculum, class ratios, how learning issues are handled, etc. Look at the facility and ask to see a sample lesson plan for your child's age range and above. Start with CDC...they are a great standard. They are NAEYC accredited which is no small feat and they will give you a tour. Ask to see Michelle the Director personally and she can give you great information. You should measure any facility against them. There are definitely other fine facilities in Austin but we loved CDC and our time there. My kids have such fond memories of their preschool days and they are now 9 and 6.
