Anyone see the movie "Funny People"? In the movie, James Taylor performed at a Facebook employee appreciation party. Afterward, James Taylor and Seth Rogan's character were watching Adam Sandlers comedy routine, and talking.
Rogan asked Taylor "do you ever get tired of singing the same old songs, over and over again, year after year?"
The response was classic, but can't be stated here.
But the general answer is, no, people don't get tired of the same old stuff. Or if they do, they return later anyway.

But do people really spend all that much time on this forum anyway? Yes, there are regulars but I doubt that they spend more than a tiny portion of their day on the forum and probably only get engaged with a small minority of the threads.

At first, all of the threads were interesting. Now I pick and choose which to follow. I think it's good that this is such an active forum. I've learned a lot here about the city I've lived in for decades. I don't agree with everything, but I learn new/useful things nonetheless.
Happenings in Austin are near the top of the list of things that affect me the most, so I'm here. However, I run a business and work many hours, so this is also a diversion.
Mostly though, if you're tired of posting or think you've spent too much time on here and neglected other things, just quit reading/posting. No need to announce it. Then, when you come back and start posting again (and you may), you'll save yourself the embarrassment of doing the flip-flop. But, good luck to you with carrying out your current plans.

I am currently bored...and thus on hiatus. I feel like it's the same topic over and over again. Why don't people search the threads before posting?

We need some sticky threads at the top linking to all the FAQs.
As for the OT, I guess I only come here when I'm bored of other things... and talking about Austin ends up being the less boring alternative. Although, like another poster mentioned, I have picked up some things (and tried many restaurants) as a result of this forum... things I missed even with 20 years here.

I still find out anything worth doing here by word-of-mouth or the Chronicle.
What and why in God's name have I spent the better part of a year noodling on this website? At what point can you call a single-handed obsession with chatting about a metro simply narcissism, especially in light of the fact that this is adding nothing to the experience? Actually, even the conversations are a dead-end, as seems like every point, if you can call it that, is simply debated to death, rather than adding anything enlightening or of worth to the conversation....
To sum, I think we are just exhibiting a collective mass display of narcissism by maintaining a single-handed obsession with one metropolis.
What more can one possibly say anyway here that has not been said?
Lastly, what in the hell are these people doing on here with 1,000,000 posts or so on the Austin board, or what seems like it....do they LIVE on this website? Are they inside my hard-drive? Are they actually getting out to see, live, and enjoy life in Austin? Do they work? Do they surf the computer 24/7 AT work?
Sorry, but I've finally been bored to tears writing about the same subject on here........

Touche!
LOL! I don't think Nor Cal Wahine likes me very much!
One thing I never have done on here is talk about myself, BTW....I stick to general issues, and would be bored silly getting into personal issues..
Some topics I've brought up on here....
Grocery options(We had a long chat for about 3 weeks on options, from HEB to the new Sprouts)...
Growth in general...
Bike trails/exercise options
Entertainment scene/music
Lots of relo stuff.....
DT growth, and the density of the inner core of Austin
Public transportation issues(road to nowhere from Leander)
Edwards aquifer and barton springs( and the draining of the same with the DT condo high-rises)
ad infinitum........
Posts about myself....just this one....and yes, I decided to come back....
Not much more to say about it, and I look forward to chatting about general Austin issues, and continuing to avoid bringing up my personal issues....

I don't know you, and therefore have no opinion of you. You are just a poster on a forum I frequent who has a penchant for ad-nauseum highly-opinionated discussion of the very topic you claim in this thread of one month ago to be bored of and taking a break from. A little ribbing for your quick about-face is far from dislike.

Peace, Nor Cal Wahine....I'm sure we have no idea what either of us is all about, and would prob actually like each other if we met.....
Have a virtual beer on me, and a pat on the shoulder!
I have no offense at all, friend, and have a great week-end!
