Question Using Austin Movers Nationwide?

We have been advised to retain an Austin-based mover to handle our move over from New Orleans later this year. The advice applies regardless of whether we choose to work with an agent of a national company or with a local mover willing to do a long distance move. Any opinions on that? Any experience with local Austin movers who are willing to drive to get a return load? Since our move is not a company relo, the choice is ours. Also, any words of wisdom on moving framed prints, sculptures, antiques? Anybody successfully moved the equivalent of a 10 foot ficus?

I don't have any recommendations for movers cause we just rented a truck and did it ourselves (we had very little to move). I bubbled wrapped all our artwork, vases, etc. and it all came out fine. You'll want to buy bubble wrap in bulk and not the little packages you can get at Wal-Mart, etc. I think places like Costco have them. Secure the bubble wrap with packing tape.

The only way I can see moving the ficus plant is to put it in last in the truck. But, ficus are very picky about changing temperatures, etc. so it may or may not make it. Definitely worth a try though!

Done some moves around the country. Look in the yellow pages for places that sell bubble wrap wholesale, package suppliers usually. Also I noticed the other day that uhaul had the corner pieces that pros use to pack pictures with, you might ask the package supplier if they have this also cause they were pricey at uhaul.never had any luck moving plants of that size good luck though.

I don't have any advice about Austin based movers but we had a ton of estimates after and internet search I did. I just looked them all up on the BBB and there were a lot of them with a huge number of negative filings.
I did find a decent one though so I'm glad I did a little research.
