Taylor Cafe, Louie Mueller's (Taylor), all of the above mentioned, of course, Coupland Inn and Dance Hall in Coupland, Wahlburg (both biergartens), Rio Grande in Hutto or RR, Old Times burgers in Rice's Crossing, 620 Cafe, Chuy's RR, Catfish Parlour G'Town...I can think of a few others too, but sounds like you have a good list of places to try so far

I agree with love roses on Rio Grande in Hutto. It's a great little Tex-Mex place for the family. The Round Rock location of Rio Grande is a little rough in my opinion. I always drive the extra 10 minutes to the Hutto location. Saccone's pizza in Round Rock hasn't been mentioned yet. They also have a Leander location I think.
I'm still surprised to see so many Monument Cafe recommendations. Is that a place that people actually frequent or just go there once in a while? I guess it's just not my type of place. It seemed pricey for the type of food that they serve, but they always seem to be super crowded with a wait, so what do I know. Maybe it just seems like it's more "adult" food. I pretty much still have the food tastes of a 7 year old.

Fav Restaurants
My favorites are:
Gino's in Round Rock - family owned Italian restaurant. The BEST around!
Morelia Grill - Mexican restaurant in Round Rock. It has become my favorite Mexican restaurant, better than Chuy's and way better than La Margarita.
Friar Tuck's Panty - A British tea room in old downtown Round Rock. It's owned and operated by a British woman. She makes all of her own pastries. They're delicious as well as her sandwiches...well everything is really good!

Here are a few of my favorites:
- Mangia on Palm Valley in Round Rock for great pizza (try the Mangia Mia stuffed pizza & the Blanco thin crust pizza)
- Hunan Ranch on Parmer at Avery Ranch for Chinese
- Los Reyes on S. Bell in Cedar Park for Mexican
- J&J BBQ on 1431 in Cedar Park for BBQ turkey or brisket

Monument Cafe is good old-fashioned home cooking with superlative ingredients - and as much as possible, everything locally grown, including the Kobe beef. There really is a reason that it's so crowded, and why it moved into a bigger place (rebuilt to look just like the old place, but bigger).
I don't consider it particularly pricey given what you get, but obviously mileage varies on that. It's not "adult" food, though, just, as I said, good home cooking.

Makes sense. I honestly haven't been exposed to a lot of good old-fashioned home cooking I guess. I grew up in the microwave generation. I'll give it another shot some time as I've only been there once. I went for lunch and had a burger. I probably should have had something other than a burger.

Try the chicken fried steak sometime. Mmmmm.
I've had a microwave for decades. I use it to heat up the leftovers of the good old-fashioned home cooking (or the occasional foray into gourmet items, or sometimes just a hot dog - we're pretty eclectic here at Chez Jumonville)

Just tried Moonies yesterday. Not bad!
Anyone ever try that red shack looking place on 79 down by the Dell Diamond? Burger joint if memory serves. And Salt Lick in RR was also very tasty. Keep 'em coming.

Does anyone know what happened to Al Cappone's in RR. I LOVED that place and when we moved back, found out it was gone. It used to be in the center by Home Depot on 35 but like katty corner from Subway and a tire place. it was next to an Indian restaurant I think. Maybe they moved and have a new name??? I hope.
