Liberty Hill questions?
Just when I thought we figured out where we were living I can't get a dream out of my head and I might have found the answer in Liberty Hill??? ..feel free to bash it cause a dash of reality is always good.
Here it is...
A newer house that has a nice floor plan that is in great condition and requires no updating, on an acre or a few, in a nice town with community pride, with a great school district, that isn't overrun by drugs and of all things I want what I call "ranch gates" you know the gate before you enter the driveway. I love those and want that, with a long drive, I want space from my neighbors, we want a pool in, we want privacy. And all this for around $220 not including pool. NO? Yes? If so great will be taking a look for sure but there are 2 big questions here too..
Liberty Hill get the brunt of storms? and Are drugs huge here as I saw one poster say its the meth capital? True or No?
Thanks all for the help! This has been a real estate journey like no other for us.

Well, a quick scan of the MLS shows that there are 6 houses in LH in your price range with an acre or more, from small to large. The larger ones are a short sale and a bank-owned property, and they're also at the top of the range ($211,000-215,000). That's just what pops up today - it varies, of course.
What size house are you looking for?
Yes, Liberty Hill will have some weather - don't know about the "brunt of the storms", but it will get some. Of course, most of Central Texas will get weather, but there's more of it the further into the Hill Country you get, for some reason best known to meteorologists.
Don't know about the drugs, but I haven't heard of significant problems through the grapevine. That being said, I wouldn't depend on what someone on the internet said about that, positive OR negative, because you never know what someone's agenda (or knowledge of the matter, for that matter) is.

I saw a bunch too. Size doesn't really matter it's more the newness and location of the property. We really thought we found the place we thought best met all of our needs but then driving today we passed multiple ranch gates and I told my husband, remember how I wanted a ranch in DS and I just can't get that lifestyle out of my head. So thats when Liberty Hill hit me, I looked on here, saw some negative comments about drugs and thought I would ask about that.
There are 2 drawbacks to the subdivision we found, taxes are the highest in the area and the lots aren't the best choices. We wouldn't cry if we had to go that route but I have to give due diligence to every area before I buy another house.

By the subdivision you found, do you mean in Dripping Springs or Liberty Hill? And, yes, you should know your options as much as possible before you purchase a home.

Thanks for your help!! No we couldn't find anything new in DS in our pricepoint that didn't need updating. We searched hi and low in Georgetown and couldn't find new there either in anything we liked until we stumbled upon Parkside at Mayfield Ranch. Has almost everything we want except the land (just typical subdivision lots) and the taxes are high(2.91). I just remembered I also have the cable issue that I must have land line cable no satelite/dish for company policy. I might be out of luck but gotta keep tryin'.

We live out in the Libery Hill area and have no problems with any meth or the likes. I guess unless you look for it its not going to bother you. Schools seem fine but we are still in Leander ISD where I live but vote in Liberty Hill. I think they are having water issues you might want to look into that but otherwise no problems that I have heard of.

How far out is your property and do you get Time Warner out? I just watched some HS football videos on youtube. Fun!

We actually live in a neighborhood cause i have a ranch further out in the Hill Country and I want my kids to have the hood experience! LOL. Most folks that don't get cable will go the Direct tv or dish route up to you how much you watch tv.
