Not all northern markets are indoors.

Detroit Eastern Market - Detroit Eastern Market

Definitely missing this one!

I would so be there in a second! I love the idea of having something to do with the kids after work (and also getting the produce for the week, double whammy!). I wish you the best of luck with this.

Can't wait for that to open!

OP, they might be a resource for you, as well.
I didn't know that. I'll have to check it out when it starts up.

Default Cedar Park Farmers Market

I love the idea of an indoor/outdoor market in Cedar Park... open evenings, with music and twinklng lights. Try to find a spot with lots of trees. I think there might be some good locations along 1431, west of 183.

I know this is kind of an old thread, but my folks from back home just called me recently and told me they had gone to a Farmer's Market shindig over at 1890 Ranch. Is this what y'all were trying to set up? If not, at least one got up and running, apparently. When I'm back in town I'll have to check it out.

Not sure if it's the same one that they were trying to setup, but the one in 1890 Ranch is pretty big and packing in the people. I drove by there today and there were hundreds of people walking around. Somebody mentioned that there were thousands of people there last Saturday. It's in-between Gold's gym and the movie theater in the very back of 1890 Ranch and is open from 9:00am to 1:00pm I think.

We were there the past two weekends(missed this week for the neighborhood garage sale) and while it is well-attended, I think you would be hard pressed to get more than 150-200 people milling about at any one time. Pretty sure there were not 'thousands' there last Sat. as there was plenty of room at each vendor(two or three had small crowds) and it is only open for the AM.

We're tickled to see them and will attend regularly. Most of the prices we saw were somewhat better than Sprouts(on local honey, agave nectar, etc) but we didn't need or shop for produce as such. One particular produce stand has had lines both time we were there.

It is run by F2M(farm to market), I believe; a not for profit coordinator of such events.

Even though it was not me who started this I am freaking thrilled it's finally happening. I heard they had 3,000 people the first Saturday it opened. I have to believe that people in the suburbs want local, organic food just as much as those in the city. I hope Cedar Park continues to go in this direction.
