So the Nutty Brown Cafe has been around for YEARS. For years they have served GREAT food and had GREAT music. Fast forward years later and Belterra gets built. People buy the homes and now they have filed a petition and complaint with the TABC against the Nutty Brown Cafe to have it shut down! Shame on you Belterra residents! Losers. Let's moe next to the airport and complain about music.

Sounds similar to the situation with the backyard.

Oh, you've got to be kidding! (Sadly, I realize that you're likely not.)

The TABC should NOT indulge these people. I agree, shame on them.

Such is progress. In with the "new" and out with the "old".
Places like this should be grandfathered. I hope the "old" wins.

Here is a letter from the owner of Nutty Brown sent to a person in our community:

unfortunately it is true. for sometime now these folks have been threatening to go to tabc and protest the renewal of our license under a very vague and very rarely used "loud noise" regulation in the tabc code. the code is literally that vague. because of this vagueness it has, on occasion, been employed by folks like these in matters like this. i have been overwhelmed by support in the past 38 hours sent the original email was mailed out by a server at my place. i have received over 300 emails expressing support for us and what we do.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!! at this point, the best thing we can do for ourselves is hire a great attorney (which we have done) and accrue as many emails from folks in the 78620, 78737 and 78736 zips as possible. we are certainly off to a good start due to folks like yourself.

Default Save the Nutty Brown

I was afraid of something like this happening. Especially with that new part of Belterra that went up right behind the Nutty Brown.

When we decided to move to Dripping, we thought that the Nutty Brown was a great plus for the area.

Here is an email thread I got on the matter.

************************************************** *****
Here is some additional information for all of you so you are educated
as to where Nutty Brown Café stands with our TABC and noise level
audits:

We have passed every single TABC audit. We have never been cited for
serving a minor or an intoxicated patron. We have a 100% spot-free
record in almost 8 years of operation. That is UNHEARD of for the kind
of volume we do.

We have been measured for sound more than 500 times & we have NEVER
been over 80 decibels at our property line which is the self-imposed
limit Mike Farr chose for us. That is 5 decibels lower than City of
Austin and far below County regs. County limit is 85 decibels at
point of complaint. Basically... at the person's house. We would have
to be broadcasting at over 100 decibels to get there.

Other info...

No rap or hard rock.

99% of all shows are on Fri/Sat's.

Charitable contributions annually total over $30k.

Please e-mail your support to bigdaddyfarr@yahoo.com

Thanks for your support!

I don't suppose there's a link to a website that could be linked to on, say, Facebook or some such places to get the word out?

eta: Never mind, they have a Facebook page I can link to.

We loved the Nutty Brown Cafe and went there all the time. It is so kid friendly and just a fun place to go!! I'd try to save it if I still lived there so you locals will have to do it for me!!

The carpetbaggers better be careful. There's enough rednecks left in Dripping to take care of their complaining the old fashioned way.
