I'm looking for somewhere cheap, UT bus route, and close to downtown.

There are some mini-apartment complexes in Hyde park, and just across Guadalupe, that used to be pretty cheap for how close they were. Within biking distance to campus and walking distance to the shuttle. Of course, they were, ummm, cheap, too, in the other sense... If you don't mind old apartments that are somewhat run down, look north of campus, 32nd-48th or so, between I-35 and Lamar.

I lived in Hyde Park while attending UT. Nice, quiet neighborhood with lots of UT shuttle stops. Prices are very reasonable.

What do you consider "cheap"?

probably around 550 the most, what do you think? You think i could get something on the west campus area at that price. I don't really care about looks, I just want a roof over my head that's all.

If you are adventurous, try east Austin off Riverside. If not, then try the MOPAC / Far West area.
