Default Visiting AUSTIN!

Hi everyone,
My boyfriend and I are visiting several different cities over the next couple months to decide where we want to move! We currently live in NY. We're coming to Austin June 16-19. Just looking for some more info on different neighborhoods to check out and things to see and do while we are in town.
About us...we are 23 and looking to live in a fun, safe area, with lots of things nearby to check out (bars/restaurants/outdoor recreation). Also would like a manageable commute to downtown. I don't think we can afford to LIVE downtown, our budget is probably around $800 and we would prefer a 2 BR apartment.
Sooo...any one have any recommendations of specific areas or apartment complexes to check out? Things we have to do when visiting? This is our first time coming to Austin, can't wait to check it out!
Thanks
Sara

Here's a good thread on what to see and do in Austin:

The Top Things Every Austinite Should See/Do?

You may want to start working with an apartment locator now and have them line up a couple of complexes for you to look at when you get here. It'll give you a good feeling for what's out there. I think for an easy commute to downtown, you might check out some of the complexes south of the river around Barton Skyway.

Good luck!
