Hi,

I've taken in a stray in North Austin. Might someone suggest the best sites to post the found notice? I'll do Craigslist, etc., but I thought there might be one that everyone (except me!) knows about.

He's a cute little guy--I'm sure someone's missing him a lot!

Please help, and thank you!

I'd post signs locally as opposed to the internet. Local folks will see a "Found dog" as they drive by especially if some family is out driving around looking for him.

Thanks, HappyTexan! My wife's printing some out. We'll put them up in the morning.

Blue Dog Rescue
This site has some suggestions, including:
-taking the dog to a vet or shelter to see if they'll scan for a microchip
-checking the lost dog files at the shelter and filing a "found" dog notice with them
-posting a free ad with the Austin American Statesman

Best of luck reconnecting this dog with his owner. Good that he's safe and not roaming the streets in the meantime.

Thanks CapCat--and everyone else who looked.

The little guy just got home! What a thrill it was to see a little girl with tear-stained cheeks break into a huge grin and grab her so badly missed dog!

MADE MY DAY!

So glad to hear this story has a happy ending!

Just in case anyone out there finds a pet in the future, in addition to the earlier mentioned tips, there is a great website -- petfinder.com.
It has rescue groups, local shelters, and individuals can also post "ads" and respond to ads as well. It is actually a great site to find an animal when just interested in adopting one, too!
