Hi, I am Soon-to-be graduate at New Mexico State University with a Bachelors in Engineering Technology in two weeks. I have recently researched on the top cities with jobs in a technical field throughout the internet and found that Austin is in the top 3 in 2009. I have found many jobs and have applied with many employers throughout area. I currently live in Las Cruces, NM and have lived here all my life, reason for moving is there is absolutely no jobs hiring in technology fields for miles and i would like some descent pay then working for a telemarketing job and working for minimum wage. Besides seems like im over qualified since i have been denied twice already. If given the opportunity for an offer around Austin or/and surrounding areas, where would a recent graduate as myself with a family, fairly okay credit (550-600 range) find a reasonable apartment that is not too expensive, friendly neighborhood, crime rate low, and accepts large pets friendly(1 beagle and 1 GSP/Heeler mix)? Most of the jobs that i have applied for are near Round Rock, is this a Also where is a good fitness center, preferably 24/7, currently i have a personal trainer, but i would like to have a place to run, ride a bike or exercise on a concept 2 rowing machine?

I would recommend North Austin. There is a 24 hour fitness on I35 near Pville and another one in Round Rock/Pville. You'll need a car, but you will be able to do all those activities you mentioned.

Thanks for the info! Does anyone know of where to get an apartment that will accept large dogs and okay credit or at least an apartment complex that doesn't check credit??

Most apartment complexes are going to run your credit. But as long as you have an income that allows you to make the rent payment, and also have the first and last month's rent, plus a security deposit or move-in fee, most apartment complexes will approve you. The only time I have ever heard of people getting denied by a complex, was if there was a recent bankruptcy or a scenario where you were evicted or broke a lease and did not pay the balance owing on the lease. I have heard that "private" landlords (individuals trying to rent out a condo, for example, as opposed to a corporate-owned complex) are not nearly as strict about approving you, and are probably going to be more focused on any past criminal history etc.

I have a full bread beagle and a German ShortHaired Pointer/Queensland Heeler Mix, the mix will be about 80-85 pounds when fully grown in about 3 more years. There are both 7 month old puppies at moment, but are well behaved, potty and crate trained dogs.
