Summer Weather? Humidity???
We are thinking of relocating to Austin. I love the area. I was there in Oct and it was beautiful and the people are just so kind.
Here is my concern...2 years ago we were to Corpus Christi and I had this bright idea to camp on the beach IN AUGUST! LOL OK, stop laughing LOL So anyway, the humidity was do horrible and the mosquitos were the size of a small child. How is that compared to Austin?
Thanks

i don't think the humidity is as bad as corpus christi but the summers are bad in austin too. it was hot even in the middle of the night like in high 80's. i have been living in central texas for the past 10 years i felt the summers are getting worse and longer. who knows may be global warming is doing that. when we have nice weather austin is so beautiful especially in march- april time with blue bonnets on the road sides and clouds in the sky it is almost like a picture.

Austin's summers are horrible. They are actually not that humid and have more of the "dry, dusty" feeling. As I've mentioned before, it's like living in a blast furnace.

This is primarily 3 months of the year, correct?

Nah... Phoenix is like living in a blast furnace. Austin is not dry and dusty in comparison to Phoenix. Let's take yesterday as an example. It was a nice 80 degrees or so here in Austin at around 8-9 a.m. In Phoenix it was already close to 95 degrees. Last night it had cooled off and was very pleasant. Phoenix was likely still at, well, 95 degrees.
We visited Port A last June and I found it miserably humid and miserably mosquito-y. We then headed back to Austin after our trip down there and Austin felt downright wonderful!
It's all relative to where you're coming from, I guess!

I came from Las Vegas where is was like a convection oven and dry.
Austin is hot in the summer but not unbearable. Humidity for me is not really a factor.

Austin summers are nothing like the coast. We have a beachfront property by galveston and I know exactly what you mean about the mosquitos. Just going from the car to the house gets you 5 bites.
The air is unbelievably humid down there as well. Austin sometimes is humid (a few weeks ago it was extremely humid) but now it isnt bad at all. Austin is hot (95 degrees for at least a month) but mostly in the high 80's low 90's

More like 5 (June through October), though sometimes it can get really hot in May. We've been lucky this year as we've had a nice, long Spring and it's still getting cool at night. Last year we hit 100-degrees in MARCH!
As mentioned above, we did get some really humid weather earlier this month (highest I've ever felt here), but it went away and the dry air is back.

Jread is correct in that every year varies. Last year sucked as far as weather goes. So far (knock on wood), this year has been awesome! My windows were open all day today (May 17). Last year I remember going to the Austin Fine Arts Festival the first week of April and sweating buckets.
The weather is nothing if not unpredictable here. Although summer is definitely HOT, but what do you expect for the middle of Texas??? I can honestly say that I was so much more uncomfortable in the summer when I lived in Florida (30+ years) because of the constant high humidity.

Yeah, last year was pretty bad, and having lived my entire life here, except when I lived in Colorado for a few years, I thought I was gonna die! This year has been great so far. Not too hot at all. We were outside most of the day with no problems.
