Thanks trainwreck for those tips. I know we get black ice here and yes it is bad. Just appears out of the blue.

How often do you have that?

Aloha a nui loa!
I like La Jolla as well, but I am sick of the crowds here. I am looking forward to a more 'manageable' city. I feel like Austin is 'knowable' vs LA where you could never know all the neighborhoods and understand them.

The black ice is pretty rare...once or twice in a year, sometimes years in between. Which just makes it worse, I suppose, than if it were a regular occurence. The city has (probably rightly) invested in very little winter traffic gear. Why get lots of equipment to treat something that only happens once in a while? Easier to just stay home, and not many complain .
