I drive by the East Ave site every day (where Concordia University used to be) and only see one building complete, yet the project's web site says that they are slated to be done with work in early 2010. Does anyone know what's going on with the project?

It's being built in phases, I'm sure. The building that is nearly complete already has a long term tenant -- it will be the HQ for Texas Monthly -- so they are definitely finishing it. I think the others (hotel, etc) will come along in phases, like the domain.. and also like the domain, sections may be delayed... 3-5 years before we see everything complete I would guess. Dunno what they are thinking on the web site.

I've been by the construction site lately, and it doesn't look like anything is happening there. Anyone know what's going on?

The developer of the mixed-use University Park project on the former Concordia University campus north of downtown has sold most of the undeveloped land on the site to Cypress Real Estate Advisors, an Austin-based real estate investment firm, Cypress Chairman Steve Clark said today.

Sarwal bought the land from Concordia in 2007, with financing from Lehman Brothers. Clark said Cypress had bought the original note from Lehman after the firm went bankrupt in September 2008.

“Our company’s strategy wasn’t to warehouse or land-bank this property,” Sarwal said. “We did extensive due diligence and have the utmost confidence in the buyer that, when the time is right, the project will continue to be developed in a way that maintains the integrity and vision of our original development plan.”

The office building is open. I think there's a medical building that should break ground by the end of the summer. There's also a beautiful townhome project at the far end of the site. check out the website - www.soltivaliving.com they're 4 star energy rated and have awesome roof decks.

Six months after my initial post, and the East Ave site looks exactly the same. Did the funding for this project fall through or something? The project's web site appears to be down as well.
