Really? I'm not a hip-hopper and I don't listen much to commercial radio but that seems really lame.

However, when actually speaking I say Austin and Houston. The 'nicknames/abbreviations' I leave solely to texting.
And I'm one of those truly weird people that uses complete words and sentences when texting. (Wait, I must not be that weird, everyone else that I text with of whatever age - and that's quite a range - does the same. Maybe we're ALL weird!)

Huh. Never even heard the term until this thread. Maybe it's used a lot there, but apparently the rest of the country doesn't refer to Austin that way. Or maybe I just am just not hip and cool enough!

So if I were hip and cool, would I be telling people that I wanted to move to ATX? (Good thing I'm not! )

Guilty as charged but I have no desire to go back to ATL.

Actually, jamin 105.9 switched formats a couple of months ago and is now the beat 105.9 so hip hop is not dead in Austin. I know this because I have kids and they like to flip the dial around trying to find a song that will satisfy them at that moment.

Well, don't feel alone. I haven't heard of it either and I live here. If I was hip and cool, I think I'd avoid its use completely.

If things like this bother you, you must not have many problems in your life. I am envious.
