As the title says I am just wondering if anyone has tried or switched to Clear for home/mobile internet? I currently have TW but am tired of paying their inflated rates. I was considering a combination of Clear and either Dish or Directv to save some money.

I live around 78754 and the signal right now is weak. I had to move the modem to the front door by the window to get 3 of 5 bars reception. I used my mobile device around I35 and was getting around 1-3 bars and at one point, I was disconnected. On north lamar, I got 4/5 bars, so I'm pleased with that. I would not sign a contract with them until they get provided a better signal(faster speeds) at home I get 3mbps down and .5mbps up which is pretty standard but not what i paid for.

Near a window is not really an option for me. My computer nook is in the center of the house and nowhere near a window. I guess I will hold off for now and see how things develop with them.

Thanks for providing the feedback.

I speedtested their signal at Discount Electronics the other day and it was horrible - .3 MB down.

That certainly is terrible. I guess I will stay away for now.

The prices don't seem that attractive. With the easy availability of WiFi in numerous public places in Austin, and the high reliability and super fast speed of Time Warner, I don't see the value proposition of Clear.com.

Service in downtown and central Austin area is great, but as others have said...the price isnt that competitive. Sprint currently offers the same 3G/4G modem but their service is $10 less per month, comes with a free modem and the first month of service for free.

But hey...someone's gotta pay for those banners to fly around town and for all those fancy billboards, right?

I've heard Clear internet isn't worth it. You're better off with Verizon internet, time warner cable internet, etc. Much faster, in my opinion.

I actually didn't think that $50/month for unlimited home and mobile internet was that bad of a price.
